Isabella’s area of specialty is in the intersection between health and climate change. She assists the legal team in conducting research on various Waitangi Tribunal inquiries, including the Natural Resources and Environmental Management Kaupapa Inquiry and Health Kaupapa Inquiry.

Isabella Lenihan-Ikin is passionate about issues concerning the health of people and the planet. She grew up in Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland, before moving to Te Whanganui-ā-Tara Wellington to study a Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Science (Hons). Isabella was admitted as a barrister and solicitor of the High Court in 2023. She brings a diverse professional background in the public sector, research and strategic campaigning. 

She was awarded a Rhodes Scholarship (New Zealand) to study at the University of Oxford. In 2023 she graduated with a Master's of Science in International Health and Tropical Medicine with Distinction and is currently completing her PhD in Clinical Medicine at the University of Oxford. Her research draws on qualitative methods to understand the health impacts of climate change among outdoor workers in Aotearoa New Zealand. 

She is an Executive Member of Ora Taiao: The New Zealand Climate and Health Council and is a tauira of te reo Māori me ngā tikanga at Te Wānanga o Aotearoa.
