Lucy Tothill

Lucy grew up in Christchurch and moved to Auckland to complete her Bachelor of Arts (Ancient History) and Bachelor of Laws (Honours) at the University of Auckland in 2019. She was admitted as a barrister and solicitor in the Auckland High Court in June 2020.

Following her admission to the bar, Lucy practised as a barrister, specialising in human rights and refugee law. Through this mahi, she has appeared in various tribunals and courts, including at the Refugee Status Unit, the Immigration and Protection Tribunal, a number of District Courts and High Courts, and the Court of Appeal in Wellington.

Lucy joined the DCL team in November 2021. She loves advocating for her clients and her areas of interest are civil litigation, refugee law, Waitangi Tribunal matters, and human rights matters. She is a member of the Auckland Women’s Lawyers Association and the New Zealand Young Lawyers Association.

Lucy continues to be involved in the charity she co-founded whilst at secondary school (Educating Girls Globally), and outside of work, she enjoys spending time with friends and whanau. She loves reading and being outdoors, usually on or near the ocean.
